Interview with Nate Berkus on Oprah & Friends

I was thrilled and extremely grateful to have the opportunity to sit down earlier this week with designer-extraordinaire, Nate Berkus, on his "Oprah and Friends" XM radio program. Nate asked me to come on the show to talk about my accessible and affordable approach to interior design. We chatted about design inspiration, infusing a space with details that reflect the owner, and I discovered that Nate has a way to determine whether or not a person is destined to be a good designer (you'll have to tune in to find out what it is!).

If you've seen Nate on Oprah's show, I can tell you that he is just as warm, funny and kind in person. He truly believes in designing spaces that have a soul and that tell a story of the lives of those living within. I've certainly learned so much in watching him over the past couple of years and it was such a treat to meet and chat with him.

If you'd like to catch the show, it will be airing on XM radio (channel 156) next Friday, February 16 at (all EST): 4a.m. (you get a prize if you listen this early), 10 a.m., 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. If you miss it on Friday, it will re-air on Saturday at 8 a.m. and again on Sunday at 7 p.m. If you don't have XM radio, I know that you can download a free trial for a few days.

Thank you again, Nate, and all of the gracious folks at Harpo - the pleasure was all mine!

Are you kidding? And I missed this? Wow, I'm inspired! This is the best news, you must have loved it. How did it go? What was it like? I know I sound a bit wide-eyed here, but that man walks on water in my eyes. I was so struck by the loss of his partner during the tsunami and ever since, my appreciation and respect for him has grown immensely because I cannot imagine the pain involved in such a tragic end. Being in design, it must have been a challenge to 'get into' the lives of others and work on their spaces, along with being in the public eye, after all that. But, he did it. He stayed on top of his game and now, he has a huge following of loyal fans that truly adore him. And the kindess he generates, he glows, is wonderful because so often people turn cold after loss and do not allow others near them.

You are so fortunate to have had this opportunity, but of course, he is lucky to have met you, too!
